The Anniversary Party

The room was set up with the dining tables along both sides of the room, and the penny sale tables running down the center length.

Sue Patten is located in Port Rowan, On.  You can find her on Facebook and Blogger, and I'm sure many other spaces on the web...just do a google search.  Her talk was really entertaining and her quilts are stunning.

The program for November is Pauline Grondin and she will be doing a trunk show and talk entitled "Piecing Together Canada's History Through Quilts".
Remember, we will be meeting at St. Paul's Anglican Church again.  The Church ladies here don't feed us, so some of the members will probably go out for supper instead of having our usual catered supper. Honestly, who wants to cook???

For the DECEMBER meeting, please bring your fabric cuts you prepared for the September meeting: three 2.5 inch strips.

October & November Reminders

REMINDERS:

• There is NO REGULAR MEETING IN OCTOBER.  We are having a celebration luncheon at St. Paul's Anglican Church to mark our 10th anniversary and you must prepurchase tickets.  See the previous post for ticket and location information.

• The NOVEMBER meeting will ALSO be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Caledonia.  Our normal meeting location has an annual conflict because they are the hosts of the Holiday House Tour.

A new season begins...

A new season of quilting is set to begin on Wednesday September 9th.  If you would like to join us please be at the church before 7 pm.  This will be the night when everyone should pay their membership, so bring your chequebook too!  All details are on the right hand sidebar.

FOR THIS FIRST NIGHT, BRING THREE STRIPS OF FABRIC CUT @ 2 1/2" BY THE WIDTH OF FABRIC.

(so: 2 1/2" x 40-ish").  It seems we will be playing a game.

 The Scrappy Club said a fond farewell to the summer hiatus with a pot luck supper at Helen's house.  (It took her a week to finish off the leftover wine!)

May and June meetings

MAY
Several months ago our program night was a relay race to make 9-patch units and matching railroad sashing.  At our May meeting, we used those items to put together two quilt tops.

Two teams, each with twelve blocks.  The blocks had been donated from a Block of the Month winner who really didn't want the blocks.

They say that many hands make light work.

Hmm.  Perhaps many hands make for confusion???

But as you can see, perseverance pays off!

JUNE
These are the blocks from the Block of the Month that was presented back in May.  Very lucky winner tonight!

I think June is pot luck event at just about every guild.  Here are the leftover desserts.  This table was totally filled with desserts at the beginning, so we certainly knocked a big hole in it.

For July and August there will be no meetings.  We will get together for sewing days only, 9:30 - 4:30.  After all, we have to keep up on the new babies and the zucchini recipes, right?

February's meeting

Ila Swayze came and spoke about the judging process at fall fairs.  She was very engaging and got a lot of discussion started.  So often with guest speakers there is very little discourse after the initial talk, but that didn't happen here.  Hopefully we're feeling more confident and will be less timid about entering our items when September rolls around.

In March we are having a members showing of FIRST QUILT & FAVORITE QUILT.  Dig out that ratty well loved quilt you made back when you were knee high to a grasshopper, and unwrap your favorite from it's acid-free tissue paper.  Bring them both to share with our members.
